Alan Wake 2 release month Accidently Leaked?

In an interview, the voice actor of Alan Wake, accidentally revealed when the highly anticipated sequel is launching.

In an interview by the Monsters, Madness, and Magic Youtube channel, the voice actor of Alan Wake, Matthew Porretta, accidentally revealed that the highly anticipated sequel is supposed to come out in October.

This isn't the first time a voice actor revealed a game's release window by accident. The Venom voice actor in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 accidentally revealed the release window earlier this year. Here's the full interview: Bright Falls and Night Springs - An Interview with Matthew Porretta - YouTube.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 confirmed No CO-OP

Those hoping for some implementation of co-op multiplayer are going to be disappointed.

With Spider-Man 2's reveal showcasing its multiple characters and seemingly tag team moves, some were hoping for some implementation of co-op multiplayer. If it were to have co-op multiplayer, it wouldn't be the first time Insomniac has done so. In an open-world game no less, their Xbox console exclusive Sunset Overdrive featured an 8-player co-op mode. Disappointingly it looks like it's confirmed as a no-go. Insomniac's official Twitter page replied the following when asked if Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was going to be a co-op game:

Nope! It is an epic single-player adventure!

Insomniac Games (Twitter) May 22, 2023

While It's disappointing we can't web-sling through New York City with friends in the sequel, I'm sure it'll be a great game. What do you think about the sequel having no co-op?

GameStop Pro Membership is getting a Price Hike

GameStop has decided to reboot their PowerUp Rewards Pro membership.

GameStop is no stranger to making controversial changes to their business and now we have another one as they've decided to reboot their PowerUp Rewards Pro membership. Going forward the name of the service will be called only "GameStop Pro". That's certainty a positive change since the previous title was a mouthful but what's not great is the price increase from $14.99 to $25 per year.

Starting June 27, 2023, GameStop Pro Members get exciting new benefits! These new benefits are on top of the $70 in value a Pro can get just for joining!

Get 5% Extra Off:

  • All Pre-Owned Products
  • All Collectibles, Trading Cards, Toys, & Apparel
  • All Clearance
  • All GameStop Brand Products (excluding gift cards)
  • All GameStop Product Protection Plans In-Store

GameStop (Email) May 23, 2023

If you've ever been a PowerUp Rewards Pro member at GameStop, you will most likely know that points are earned on purchases and in the past on trade-ins. Those points can then be redeemed on various things such as gift cards and Game Informer subscriptions. Currently, when a Pro membership runs out, the points are still available safely tucked away in your account. Well, that will no longer be the case as GameStop has decided to empty your savings if you don't renew on time or make use of the points within a year.

Your points will expire if you are not a GameStop Pro Member. Keep on auto-renew to keep your points. All points of Pro Members will expire 1 year from the date of accumulation. This change impacts points you've accumulated before this change.

GameStop (Email) May 23, 2023

That sounds like a terrible change, especially for those who accidentally let their membership expire even though they will most likely renew during their next visit. Of course, it's not as bad as when they stopped awarding points on trade-ins altogether. But what do you think of the changes, I think $25 is still relatively cheap if you plan to make purchases every month.

Ubisoft gives update on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake

Ubisoft has finally given us a new update after the project changed developers.

With the onslaught of canceled projects sweeping Ubisoft's studios, many have thought that the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake could be next. Ubisoft has finally given us a new update after the project changed hands back to the creators of the original game, Ubisoft Montreal.

While the project is still heavily under wraps and won’t be at Ubisoft Forward in June, it’s very much alive – and Ubisoft News had a chance to speak with Producer Jean-Francois Naud and Game Director Michael McIntyre about its status, what it means to Ubisoft Montreal, and what made The Sands of Time such a unique experience.

Ubisoft (Website) May 24, 2023

We've learned some interesting information from this interview such as the current state of the project. Even though it was announced back in 2020, the team at Ubisoft Montreal is still in the conception phase. That means you will have to wait quite a few more years before you can get your hands on this classic remake.

But one of the best things to come out of Ubisoft Montreal taking over the remake is that some of the developers who worked on the original game are still working at the studio, so it couldn't be in better hands. Check out the full interview for some interesting tidbits from the team working on the remake.

Project Q revealed as New PlayStation Handheld Accessory

The rumored PlayStation Handheld was revealed today during the PlayStation Showcase event.

The rumored PlayStation Handheld was revealed today during the PlayStation Showcase event and it's currently known as Project Q. This new device features an 8-inch HD screen along with all the features of a DualSense controller. With Project Q you will be able to stream via Remote Play over Wi-Fi the games installed on your PlayStation 5.

They've not decided on a name yet as Project Q is what's being used internally. The biggest negative is the screen which will not be OLED. Even though it's 1080p, we're most likely looking at a screen similar to the Nintendo Switch. It was also mentioned that VR games will not be supported which should be obvious.

This is not what most PlayStation Handheld owners wanted unless they enjoyed the Remote Play feature on PlayStation Vita. Are you interested in Project Q or would you rather they make a portable device similar to the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck?

Radeon RX 7600 revealed with a Price Tag of $269

AMD has finally revealed the Radeon RX 7600 at a price lower than rumored.

AMD has finally revealed the Radeon RX 7600 at a price lower than rumored coming in at $269. According to reports online, it was originally going to come in at $300 as many rumors suggested but at the last minute, they decided to lower prices to be more competitive in the market. But even at $269, the consensus online from many reviewers suggests it's still a bad purchase. Of course, let's check out the hardware specs released by AMD to form our own opinion.

While nothing amazing, these are very solid specs for a 1080p graphics card except for the VRAM which is only 8 GB. We really need at least 10-12 GB of VRAM as more and more PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X games start making their way to PC.

If you have planned to upgrade from a RX 6600 don't expect improved power efficiency as the RX 7600 will typically use 165 watts vs 132 watts of the previous generation. Regardless of power usage, both still sit at very acceptable levels of power efficiency. A welcome addition from AMD is AV1 encoding which will improve quality for streamers and video creators.

Even with inflation $269 seems to be more than we should expect but when Nvidia controls the market it makes sense. Where things get awkward for AMD is the RX 6650 XT which does trade blows in benchmarks with the RX 7600 for only $250 or less. At this point for 1080p gaming, $199 should be the price point to hit yet inflation and crypto mining did destroy common sense in the graphics card market.

  • Intermittent system crash while playing Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II on some AMD Graphics Products, such as the Radeon™ RX 580.

Alan Wake 2 is Digital Only, Editions and Preorder Bonuses Revealed

On Alan Wake's official website, they created a frequently asked questions post. In it, they revealed that the game is digital only with no plans of it coming to disk. Their reasoning behind this is it helps keep the price at $59.99 and the PC version at $49.99. They also said that they didn't want to ship a disk product that has it requiring a download. This is a bummer and has disappointed a lot of fans, some so much so that they aren't purchasing Alan Wake 2 anymore.

Why is Alan Wake 2 a digital-only release?

There are many reasons for this. For one, a large number of have shifted to digital only. You can buy a Sony PlayStation 5 without a disc drive and Microsoft’s Xbox Series S is a digital only console. It is not uncommon to release modern games as digital-only.

Secondly, not releasing a disc helps keep the price of the game at $59.99 / €59.99 and the PC version at $49.99 / €49.99.

Finally, we did not want to ship a disc product and have it require a download for the game — we do not think this would make for a great experience either.

Remedy (Website) May 25th, 2023

In their FAQ they also revealed the editions the game will offer.

What different versions of Alan Wake 2 will be available?

Standard Edition: Includes the Alan Wake 2 digital base game.

Price: $49.99 / €49.99 / £39.99 on PC and $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99 on Consoles

  • Expansion Pass (Night Springs Expansion and Lake House Expansion)
  • Nordic Shotgun Skin for Saga (Part of the Expansion Pass)
  • Parliament Shotgun Skin for Alan
  • Crimson Windbreaker for Saga
  • Celebrity Suit for Alan
  • Lantern Charm for Saga

Price: $69.99 / €69.99 / £54.99 on PC and $79.99 / €79.99 / £64.99 on Consoles

Pre-order bonuses

If you pre-order Standard or Deluxe Edition, you will receive the following digital pre-order items:

  • Ornate Revolver Skin for Alan

Remedy (Website) May 25th, 2023

Are you still planning to buy a copy of Alan Wake 2? I think I will for PC, but it'd have to drop in price before I purchased anything digital for consoles.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum continues gaming's Bad Launch trend

The trend of games released broken this year is being kept as Gollum makes his debut.

Sad to say, but more and more games continue to be released in bad shape, then the developers issue an apology, and many patches later we get what we should have had at release. The popular examples of this are No Man's Sky: that infamously released with many of the promised features not existing, Cyberpunk: that released completely broken, and a more recent example Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: that released with poor performance.

You can add Lord of the Rings: Gollum to the list as it releases with poor quality, performance, and bugs. One thing that sets itself from those other games I mentioned is, even if it was polished, nobody would want to play it. With possibly the worst review scores ever the developers of Daedalic Entertainment were quick to apologize.

Slide 1

The apology did nothing to help with the backlash. Even before release, I saw no one excited about this game, so its reception is not a shocker. It is a bit surprising people seem to be using this as an example of why you shouldn't preorder, which is laughable.

This was a far cry from a high-quality-looking game. If you couldn't tell this wasn't on the level of Legend of Zelda, Spider-Man, or Elden Ring, I don't know what to tell you. Tell us your thoughts on bad releases in the comments. Do you think there will ever be a breaking point? Or are we doomed as unofficial playtesters?

Maximum Football's Early Access release Delayed

Originally slated for release sometime this Spring, it's now been delayed to Fall.

The football simulator, Maximum Football, was originally slated to release in Early Access form this Spring but it's now been delayed to Fall according to a message from the developers.

Slide 1

No information regarding the console release was mentioned but we can only assume it will come once it completes its early access phase. While we haven't gotten our hands on it yet, you can check out our breakdown with 5 Things To Know that showcases why it could potentially rival Madden.
