SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake Next Gen Update
The latest SpongeBob game is getting a next-gen version plus an update to all platforms.
The next-gen version of The Cosmic Shake is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. This is a pleasant surprise as SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated never received native next-gen versions. This new version will come out on October 16th of this year and those who already own the game will get the upgrade for free!
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is also getting an update to all platforms. It features a new photo mode, new costumes, and various bug fixes. Check out the full patch notes posted below.
All platforms including PC
- New Feature - Photo Mode! Apply one of 19 different filters to enhance your pictures.
- New Costumes
- New costume "King Doubloon" for collecting all doubloons is now available.
- New costume "Plush Gary" for unlocking all awards is now available.
Bug Fixes (all platforms)
- Fixed a rare bug where saving stopped working.
- Fixed a bug where the playtime did not pause while on a loading screen.
- Many general bug fixes to improve stability and playability of the game.
If you haven’t already, I recommend getting The Cosmic Shake (also Battle For Bikini Bottom) if you enjoy 3D platformers or the SpongeBob cartoon. I enjoyed the game and plan on doing a review later in the year so stay in the loop!

Xbox Game Pass Core Update
Microsoft has released the full list of games that will be included in the service at launch.
As was reported last month, Xbox Live Gold is getting transformed into a new service called Xbox Game Pass Core. The main difference will be the games as you will no longer unlock a few free games each month, instead you will gain access to a collection of titles that will be refreshed 2-3 times a year. Microsoft has now released the full 36 game list that will be launching tomorrow.
- Among Us
- Astroneer
- Celeste
- Dead Cells
- Descenders
- Dishonored 2
- DOOM Eternal Standard Edition
- Fable Anniversary
- Fallout 4
- Fallout 76
- Firewatch
- Forza Horizon 4 Standard Edition
- Gang Beasts
- Gears 5 Game of the Year Edition
- Golf with your Friends
- Grounded
- Halo 5: Guardians
- Halo Wars 2
- Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
- Human Fall Flat
- INSIDE
- LIMBO
- Ori & the Will of the Wisps
- Overcooked! 2
- Payday 2: Crimewave Edition
- Powerwash Simulator
- Psychonauts 2
- Slay the Spire
- Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition
- Stardew Valley
- State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition
- Superliminal
- The Elder Scrolls Online
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
- Unpacking
- Vampire Survivors
Most of the games seem to be a little on the older side but there are certainly some gems on the list. I still haven’t had the chance to play Doom Eternal so that would be the first one I try out but Stardew Valley is on my recommended list as I had loads of fun exploring and leveling up, but be warned its highly addicting.
Starfield’s First Update
Bethesda has released a small update that fixes some quest issues.
Starfield was released last week to a mostly positive reception with an 87 on Metacritic. But that hasn’t stopped the many requests for basic features from becoming a major talking point. It sounds like Bethesda has heard the requests as they’re promising to bring the top requested features which include Brightness and Contrast controls, HDR Calibration Menu, FOV Slider, DLSS Support, 32:0 Ultrawide Monitor Support, and an eat button for food.
With some of the new details out of the way, what about the small update they just released? Well, you can read it below but for the most part, it’s just a small bug fix update without much information.
Performance and Stability
- Xbox Series X|S Improved stability related to installations.
- Various stability and performance improvements to reduce crashes and improve framerate.
Quests
- All That Money Can Buy: Fixed an issue where player activity could result in a quest blocker.
- Into the Unknown: Fixed an issue that could prevent the quest from appearing after the game is completed.
- Shadows in Neon: Fixed an issue where player activity could result in a quest blocker.
The total update size is around 700 MB on Steam. Similar to Skyrim and Fallout 4, Bethesda is also working to bring their built-in mod support with a planned release targeting early next year. But that hasn’t stopped the PC mod community from bringing loads of features that will hopefully make their way officially.
Nintendo Direct Recap
Many great games were shown off for the very first time, come take a peek!
A lot of new footage was shown at this Nintendo Direct, the highlights for me being the Paper Mario announcement and seeing more gameplay of Princess Peach Showtime! Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a remake of the GameCube game from 2004, and as someone who hasn’t played the original, it’ll be cool to dive into it for the first time on the Nintendo Switch.
Princess Peach finally gets to shine in her own spin-off title. With a lot of remakes/remasters shown at this direct, the completely brand new Princess Peach Showtime! looks to be the most interesting new experience out of the bunch.
