Dead Island 2: Things To Know

Story

Dead Island 2 takes place in Los Angeles, California. There are six characters to choose from, each with their own unique personality and dialogues. A deadly virus is spreading, the city is in quarantine, and the military have retreated. You get bitten and infected, but you're more than just immune you learn to harness the zombie inside of you. You, and the handful of others who are resistant to the virus, hold the future of Los Angeles in the balance.

Gameplay

Melee weapons, guns, zombie abilities, and more. You can fully customize the abilities of each character, along with a brand-new skill system allowing you to re-spec instantly and try out different builds at will. There will be up to 3 player co-op. You unlock co-op around 20-30 minutes in when you reach Emma's mansion. It won't support crossplay, but it will support crossgen. For example, PlayStation 5 players can play with PlayStation 4 players, and Xbox Series X players can play with Xbox One players. Also due to the game's graphic requirements, only PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X will be able to host on last gen. But they did say that they were working on giving the option to host on all consoles in the future.

Platforms & Release Date

The platforms Dead Island 2 will be on are PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC exclusively on Epic Games Store. It releases on April 21st, 2023.

Editions

The Pulp Edition comes with the Pulp Weapons Pack. The Deluxe Edition is digital only, and it comes with the Golden Weapons Pack and 2 Character Packs. The Gold Edition is also digital only and it comes with the Expansion Pass, 2 Character Packs, Golden Weapons Pack, and the Pulp Weapons Pack. The HELL-A edition comes with all that plus a steelbook, Venice Beach Travel Map, 6 Slayer Tarot Cards, 2 Pin Badges, and 1 Patch. Preorder any edition of Dead Island 2, and you get the Memories of Banoi Pack.

Exclusives

There is no Dead Island 2 content locked to any platform which is great.
