4 New Mario Games announced for Nintendo Switch

Article

Today's Nintendo Direct was great for Mario fans as Nintendo announced a remake, a remaster, and two completely new games. Check out all the Mario titles announced below along with their release dates.

I was only expecting maybe one Mario game and we got four! Out of the four games Super Mario Bros. Wonder and the Princess Peach game are the ones I'm looking forward to. As a fan of 2D side-scrollers in a generation where side-scrollers are a dying breed, Nintendo makes their best looking 2D Mario game to date. If you haven't checked out the Nintendo Direct footage of the game already, you can see that Mario's much more animated and more visually enhanced than the previous New Super Mario Bros. series of games. Out of the four, Wonder is definitely the one I want to play the most.

Even though we haven't seen a Princess Peach centered game before, when Luigi, Yoshi, and even Toad get their own game, I always felt like it was a matter of time for Peach. Since Super Mario Bros. 2 on the original Nintendo Entertainment System gave Princess Peach her iconic flying power I've always wondered what it'd look like.

Nintendo has finally decided to take a chance with Peach. Granted they haven't shown us much yet for the game. Peach appears to be performing a play and has magical powers. Super Mario Bros. 3 on NES had a play-like aesthetic but this seems to go beyond that with prop-like backgrounds and such. They have my attention, but we'll have to wait and see where it goes from here.

As for the other two classic revitalized games, I still need to play the first Luigi's Mansion, which was originally on the GameCube and could have used a Nintendo Switch Remaster too. I don't really have an interest in Super Mario RPG, I'm sure it's a good game but there are more enticing RPGs that have come out since 1996, and the idea of potentially a 50-70 dollar price tag slapped onto these old games turns me away from both of these titles.

Are you looking forward to Super Mario Bros. Wonder like I am? Do you think Princess Peach's game will be good from the small amount we have seen? Do I need to play the first Luigi's Mansion game to play its sequel? Should I give Super Mario RPG a chance? Will Nintendo ever give us a new Donkey Kong game? Tell me your thoughts in the comments below.
